Alvin Davis is a man of mystery. He pays his deposit for the fishing trip every year, and some of think we see him for the first few yours of any trip, but do we really see him?
Was he really there or was it just the alcohol and other stuff playing with our heads? We never see him fishing and we never see him playing cards.
We know he might have been on at least one fishing trip because his name is on The Canette, but was he really there? Was he ever there? Does Alvin Davis actually exist?
Submitted by Allan Macintyre: Yes, He exists! This photo of Al is from a late autumn fishing outing in 1998 on the Ottawa River near Rockland. The photo is Alvin with my friends Micky and Norman. I know the photo is real because I took the photo.
Submitted by Warren Kidd: Al gave me this photo years ago, it's Alvin and his Mom on vacation many years ago.
Submitted by Jenn Davis: Al and I were married for 16 years. Does Melissa know? In the photo: Al and Jen Davis with daughters Melanie and Monica.
Brian Lackey: When Al Retired from CN, we had Alvin Davis PEZ dispensers made.
Submitted by Ken Cohen: Hello. I think Alvin Davis was a co-worker of mine at CN. After his retirement, I read a newspaper article indicating that Al had died in a garage door accident a home. Enclosed is the photo I saved from the Gazette. I can't confirm it, but I think he's dead.
Submitted by Peter Marak: I heard that after Alvin retired from CN, he went looking for Ian (Sandy) Gillespie. Apparently Alvin left for Nevada 3 years ago in search of Ian and no one has heard from him since. I got this photo of Ian and a friend from his brother Keith, but there was no word of Alvin.
Submitted by Warren Kidd: In 2001, he was on the cover of Lake Fisherman as a premiere walleye fisherman. It's true, I still have the magazine.
This one is from someone named Melissa (also claiming she was once married to Alvin). When will it end? Will Marge and Jessica Simpson eventually send in their pics claiming to be Alvin's former spouse?
I took this picture of Al at the Tigers reunion a few years ago. He was terribly hosed, but he was proud of his drum. I haven't seen him since the reunion.
When Alvin first went missing, Some say he might have been a postal worker in NYC. Is it true?
Submitted by Curt Bowles: The bugger is still alive and he's not welcome at my place unless he shows up with 2 cases of Alexander Keith's. Until then he's a 10-90.
From Bill Brown: I first met Alvin in 1977, I remember him because he had a very distinctive voice. Last week I was at the Cineplex on Bloor and there he was, right there on the movie screen! He hasn't aged a day since I last saw him.
Submitted by Al Heaney: I recently attended a conference in Las Vegas and took in a show while we were there. Shania Twain was in the audience and posed for photos after the show. I don't know Mr. Davis all that well, but I think Shania's boyfriend looks a lot like Al. Also, that ball cap looks very familiar.
Submitted by Al Heaney: Another one: Leaving Vegas we bumped into Shania again (and I guess, Al) at the airport. This time they were not willing to pose, but I took a quickie when they weren't looking. Again... that familiar ball cap... Looks like Mr. Davis to me!
Submitted by Kenny Cross: I saw a guy that looked like Al at the Delta Suites Ottawa in June 2012. Shania Twain just happened to be there at the same time. She was laughing at something but it was more of a nervous laugh.
Submitted by someone called Mavis: Alvin and Warren caught some big hogs a couple of weeks ago... on the Richelieu. The pic looks real, could it really be him?
Submitted by Anonymous: Another fake photo. They keep trying
A television screenshot of the 2017 Wayweather-McGregor fight in Las Vagas. Was that really Alvin and Melissa in the crowd??
