The 1977 Fishing Trip

Pourvoirie Chico-Brunet, Grand-Remous, QC

The first organizied trip

The first official year of our trophy, The Canette. Soon after arriving, we were put on a forest fire alert by conservation officers because of the dry weather and flash fires in the area. We were told to be ready to evacuate the area immediately if the nearby fires get closer.

Big Al

With the evacuation warning on our minds, some took it as an opportunity get four days of drinking into one before we had to evacuate, while others felt the need to drink all their beer just to lighten the load to make the evacuation easier. Needless to say, we drank all our beer in 12 hours, only to be told the evacuation warning had been called off due to heavy rain in the area.

With the evacuation called off and all the beer gone, we had time to do some serious fishing.

Cameras were at a premium and not a priority in 1977, so not many photos were taken. Fishermen on the trip were Phil Anderson, Al Heaney, Warren Kidd and Al Macintyre.
