The 1987 Fishing Trip

Thousand Islands Houseboat

A tour around the Kingston area

After the tornado trip of last year, we just had to try another houseboat. We decided to try another place this year, The Thousand Islands of Ontario.

Houseboats are great for keeping everyone together and keeping the fun concentrated in one place, but they are not great for fishing. Everyone caught at least a few fish with rookie John Mathers catching a 4.5-pound northern pike to win the canette.

Ron Malloff returned for a second year but did very little fishing. He was seen leaving in a taxi Saturday afternoon from the dock in Kingston. It was said that he left for a business meeting only to return Sunday morning.

On the Monday morning return of the houseboat, we met the lovely Alice who worked at the marina in Gananoque. Alice spent over 45 minutes trying to pump out the sewage holding tank. She thought something was wrong with the pump but no, it was just extra full.

Alice, you made returning our houseboat lots of fun! Unfortunately, we never got your last name. If you ever read this and see your photo here, please find one or all of us on Facebook! We would love to hear from you and get a photo of you, thirty-five years later!
