The 1985 Fishing Trip

Phils' Garage, Perth, Ontario

Fishing on the Big Rideau

Long before Phil's cottage existed in Perth, it was just a nice garage on Otty Lake. For the 1985 trip, we stayed and played cards in Phil's garage and fished the Upper Rideau and the Tay Canal.

The fishing started out at Rideau Ferry and continued along the shores and bays of the Upper Rideau. We caught many nice smallmouths in Beveridge Bay which some of us renamed "Bass Bay". We eventually passed through The Upper Beveridge Locks on our way up the Tay Canal towards Perth.

Saturday evening we were introduced to one of Macintyre's wacky neighbors from Rockland, a guy who would eventually become a regular on our June trip, a guy known only as "Maldorf".
