The 2001 Fishing Trip

Laurentian View Resort, Westmeath, Ontario

The fishing was so good, we had to go back!

The past few seasons at Lorne Spotswood's Laurentian View Resort were so good, we just had to go back. The area has excellent fishing with a great variety of fish including sturgeon and big catfish. Fishermen on the 2001 trip included Phil Anderson, Curt Bowles, Al Davis, Al Heaney, Billy Hum, Warren Kidd, Al Macintyre, Andy Romanowski and Ron Zinn.

Al Heaney

Last year we learned that one our favourite spots to fish, La Riviere Noir, was again closed to fishing until the end of June. Too bad because in 1995, a few of us caught some really nice channel cats where the river widens before the falls. Al Davis and Ron Zinn hooked into a few 15 pounders back in 1995.

A new era begins

Our fishing trip has always been about fishing, fun, lots of laughs... and a few games of chance in the evening. This was the year when Al Macintyre turned our fishing trip into the Gamblorama, where our annual June trip officially became a weekend of fun, fishing... and cards!
