Another perfect June trip. With driving wind and rain on Friday evening, the Gamblorama Fest started early with the big game. Saturday morning the sun was back out and activity started early with Frank looking for his stolen t-shirts (more on that below).
Species the year included smallmouth bass, northern pike, sturgeon, whitefish and snapping turtles. Yup, a few snapping turtles were caught in what we would later call Turtle Bay. While there were no clear winners in this year's Gamblorama Fest, Billy Hum may have left a winner for the third year in a row. The winner of the fishing trip was Warren Kidd with a 9.5-pound Northern Pike. Whop's pike was caught on the last afternoon of the trip in Turtle Bay.
So, he came to play poker with the Big Boys and ended up losing his shirt(s). It was the joke that never happened. Soon after we arrived at LVR, Frank Franchelini's Yankees ball cap and 4 t-shirts went missing and it wasn't from losing a poker. Frank claimed that he remembers hanging four t-shirts and his ball cap in his room... and they were gone. All weekend, he kept telling us, "Okay, the joke is over, you can return my stuff." All of us were shaking our heads because we didn't know who actually took his things.
We tossed scenarios around: Could Phil Anderson have taken them as a joke? No way! It's not like Phil to do something like this. Was it Whop? No way... What about Al Davis? No way, Alvin is far too mellow. Billy Hum? Not the prankster type. How about Al Heaney? Probably not... Could it have been Al Macintyre? A possibility but why would he? That leaves Ron Zinn... Yup... It is definitely something Ron might try. Not only that, Ron was Frank's roommate!
Al, Al and Ron denied taking his shirts and even offered to lend him a shirt or two. All weekend, Frank kept accusing and everyone kept denying. After turning the cabin upside down and searching Ron's car for the shirts, we determined that Frank had never brought the stuff. After the weekend was over and a 90 minute drive back to Ottawa, the t-shirts and hat were found right where he left them, in his garage! Turns out Frank never brought them on the trip!
As one of the Al's said after learning of what happened. "Frank owes us big time!"
